Hey reader
do you sometimes find it a challenge to stay positive and more importantly give yourself the credit you're due? I hear you, same over here. Over the last week or two a few people have commented to me on the challenge they face building more confidence. In a couple of cases it was the difficulty they faced dancing with their fears. Others were finding themselves heading down rabbit holes of self-doubt.
It's undoubtedly a challenge that most of us face at some time or other, including myself. We can find ourselves dwelling on our failures or shortcomings, forgetting our successes, big or small. We don't spend enough time celebrating success, and therefore more readily recall our moments of failure.
It's time to politely say "fuck off" to modesty, and proudly embrace all the amazing work you do instead. Celebrate all of your awesome, 'cause you are awesome.

#dailyawesomeness
We should always spend a moment celebrating every win. It's not immodest, it's simply taking the time to stop and acknowledge that you've done something well, made someone happy, a wonderful opportunity has come your way, or you've delivered some other bit of brilliance. There are so many ways to celebrate the wins, but I recommend formalising it in some way. Here are some ideas to celebrate awesome.
I have a Slack group with a few coach friends. In this group there's a channel called, you guessed it, #dailyawesomeness. We celebrate all the good that has gone on in each other's lives. From major things such as delivering keynotes at conferences or getting engaged, to smaller things like sending a difficult email or receiving a nice message from a client. It's wonderful to celebrate a friend's or your own achievements. It builds positive energy and helps us to be mindful of the good we do and that comes our way. It allows us to foreground our wins, when the losses or failures are the things that are more often dwelt upon. You don't need Slack, you can use SMS, WhatsApp or any channel that you share with friends and/or colleagues.
Even when we have a practice of celebration it can be helpful to do more. If you're the type of person where self-doubt can quickly overwhelm, create a personal awesomeness file. The personal awesomeness file can be a physical (or digital file) where we keep all the nice messages of thanks or praise we've received. They could be from colleagues, clients, family, friends or someone else. You should also add your own notes, in celebrating a win or recording some bit or personal awesome. When you need a pep up or a reminder to yourself you've got this, go to your awesomeness file. Read through it to see how fucking awesome you really are. Because you are enough, and sometimes it's just nice to have a little reminder at hand.
