Hi reader,
Can you believe it's February already? How did that happen?
This week I was at a coach orientation for the next session of the altMBA and as I (virtually) sat with all the incredible humans I'll be coaching alongside, I felt distinctly uncomfortable. My hands grew clammy. I started questioning whether I belonged alongside them, and if I was good enough to do the job. All this despite having done so many times before. Have you ever felt like that reader? It's called the Imposter. The Imposter will often pop up when you're stretching yourself or doing something for the first time with a view to getting better and to growth. It was a good reminder that if you're committed to growth you need to be committed to the uncomfortable stretching required, putting yourself in situations you've never been in before. The stretch, requires you to be an imposter until you've gone through that situation and start to feel more comfortable in the stretch.
I'm committed to growth and to stretching myself. It means I will continue to seek out situations where I might feel like an Imposter and have to lean in to the discomfort of the stretch. How about you reader?

Coming Up at Unmeasured
Here's the hard part for me this month. I'm going to be running test workshops, to test the platform, the design of the workshops and to better understand what works and what doesn't. There are many fears I need to push through. It might not work, but the greatest fear holding the work back is always: it might not be perfect. It won't be perfect, that's a given. It will work, maybe only in part, and then I can better understand ways that it could be better. I'm committed to delivering it and dancing with the fear.
For anyone interested in helping out making it better and joining me for the test workshops, please get in contact and I will send you an invite. There is no charge for these. You may not be surprised to hear, that one will be on Reframing the Imposter and I'm thinking the other will be on developing a Growth Mindset. Please come and join us in all learning together.

An Idea
The term impostor phenomenon was introduced in 1978 in the article "The Impostor Phenomenon in High Achieving Women: Dynamics and Therapeutic Intervention" by Dr. Pauline R. Clance and Dr. Suzanne A. Imes. In research it has been found that approximately 70% of people suffer from it at least once in their life. It effects all genders equally.

A Question
Do you choose discomfort or to remain the same?

A Quote
“No matter what we’ve done, there comes a point where you think, ‘How did I get here? When are they going to discover that I am, in fact, a fraud and take everything away from me?’” - Tom Hanks

There’s two main ways to stand out. Be different. or Be better. Copying is the route to unexceptional.
