Welcome to this week's useletter.
The newsletter that's useful. Focussed on your future not my past.
This week is especially personal but I hope a no less useful email.
Over the last week I've sent out a tranche of emails with an admission and an ask.
Before I did so I reached out to a number of my support group (or square squad if you like). The responses I got were unsurprisingly bolstering, beautiful and beneficial. Many reflected on courage.
It helped. A lot. And it gave me the courage I needed.
Here’s a version of what took courage to send:
I seem to be having quite a few conversation with architects reflecting on a substantial work slowdown - hopefully [PRACTICE] is still going strong.
It's meant for me that despite strong interest in my new workshops, commitment has been slow and frankly unsustainable. It has me considering my options.
Or are you aware of any other opportunities, even left field, that might be of interest to me and suit my skillset? I’d be grateful for any leads.
I wanted unmeasured to be financially thriving by mid-year, but I’ve not succeeded. The current economy has not been kind, and there’s a number of other factors I’m currently reflecting on. And as I said in the email I’m seriously considering my options.
I’m working on building a portfolio career and unmeasured will receive proportional attention.
It means my output may be somewhat reduced. Less regular useletters, blog and LinkedIn posts. I am still available for coaching and workshops, but I now need to make space for other work opportunities too.
This useletter maybe we can turn the tables. It’s my turn to ask for something useful. I welcome and would be grateful for any insights or help you might be able to send my way.
PS: Feel free to forward this to anyone that you think might like to hear from me or might be able to help.

Courage
There’s no big insight today. No tools. Just a brief reflection.
Courage is from the heart. Coming from the French for heart: coeur.
Courage sometimes is about starting. Courage sometimes is about stopping.
Courage is doing things differently.
Courage is not doing what everyone else is doing.
Celebrate your courage in all its guises.

Let’s face it, we all fail. What’s important is not that we fail but what we do when we fail.

I’ll often write that empathy and curiosity are my top leadership skills. Humility is right there alongside them too.

That people are born leaders is a myth. So where do they start? As all architects know, you need something to build upon.
